INSTAMEET AT TRADERS POINT CREAMERY
In May, I attended an Instameet at Traders Point Creamery, which is located in Zionsville, Indiana. Traders Point, which I had never before visited, is a family-owned artisan creamery and the first certified organic dairy farm in Indiana. Their Brown Swiss cows are one hundred percent grass-fed. Furthermore, Traders Point focuses on transparency--visitors are able to see what animals produced their food, and can see the pastures upon which the animals themselves feed. In addition, the farm is "committed to using no synthetic pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, antibiotics, or growth hormones."
Traders Point offers various tours, and also boasts spaces for special events. You can dine in their on-site farm-to-table restaurant, sample a milkshake from the Dairy Bar, or, during the summer, visit the farmers market on Friday nights. As I recently acquired a gift certificate to Traders Point, I have the nagging sensation that I will return soon--perhaps this weekend, with Ty in tow. My guess is that we'll end up with fresh cheese. And probably a milkshake. And also more cheese.
The kind folks at Traders Point were excellent hosts, given that we Instagrammers were everywhere, were into everything, were on top of everything, and sometimes were crawling and stooping and standing where we weren't supposed to. All the same, they pawned onto us whole milk yogurt, which was sweet, so very sweet, and also drinkable. Though the day had begun with cloud cover and dots of rain, the Saturday sun eventually broke through, basking us, basking the cows, and creating for a us a haven of sky and grass.
