Why I Wish I Had a DSLR

Over Christmas break, I had the honor of doing my first portrait session. An old friend invited me to her home and allowed me to photograph her daughter. Her only expectation was that I "make her look good," and my only request was that she (the mother) understand that I had no idea what I was doing.

And, truly, I didn't. I am honored that she allowed me into her home and encouraged me to capture her child in any way possible. She is overjoyed at the outcome of the photos, for which I am glad.

As for me? I only hope that I can improve. I look forward to building my skills in photography. I am thankful that I was given the opportunity to work with such a young subject for a stress-free few hours. It was very good practice...that is, if I am able to do this again.

I took over 300 pictures, but I thought I would only share a few.

  1. Aww, I love the close-up of the baby's face and the one with the hands and feet. These have so much more personality than the embarrassing pictures of baby me in a tin bathtub!
